Heather Holmes @heatherktvu and I talk about New Y Heather Holmes @heatherktvu and I talk about New Years Resolutions every year for @ktvu2, including reviewing SMART criteria for your goals, and how writing down your goals and posting them where you can see them increases the likelihood of you achieving them. This is a preview of 2018’s blog post and as I review it again, I want to pause this year, and ask — With so many patients, is now (in the middle of a PANDEMIC) the best time for a lifestyle change??? ⠀Let’s talk about it. New blog post up on 2021 🔜...
Don't we all need a breath of fresh air from this Don't we all need a breath of fresh air from this thing.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀The end is in sight, but we're not out of this thing yet.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀#TheTrench⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀I love this photo of Melanie. How would you caption it?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀#Teamwork⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Every time Melanie, RN, goes into ER bed 3 to give a medication or check on her Covid patient in isolation, she has to gown up, full PPE. As the ER doctor, sometimes I go in only once or twice, but nurses can be in and out of there 20 times for one patient, maybe more. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀But nurses are smart and they cover each other. Here, I added another medication for our patient, and if Melanie leaves the room to get it herself, she would have to take off all the PPE, go get the med from the Pixis (another room in the ER where the meds are kept) and then put all that garb back on to reenter the room and administer the medication.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Instead, she asked a nurse colleague to pull the med and hand it to her, saving a ton of time. Don't underestimate the importance of teamwork in patient care. Nurses are great at leaning on each other and going it together; I admire that, it's something we docs can learn from.

🔴 LIVE tomorrow at 2pm with @renemargarita7997 🔴 LIVE tomorrow at 2pm with @renemargarita7997 - Rene Margaret Field went to Notre Dame with Dr. Larry Burchett from 1997-2001. As a freshmen struggling not to fail pre-med classes, she noticed one classmate with a highly unique look for Notre Dame. Dr. Larry Burchett and his red bandana became one of her first friends. While Larry went on to great success, Rene dropped pre-medicine to major in Great Books, the one true major. Since college, she has lived in Chimbote, Peru; Indianapolis, Indiana; and Chicago, Illinois. She has been working as a contact tracer for six months, as her three children spend each day on their computers in the hopes that in-person school will someday resume. Schedule an alarm for this one! It’s going to be great! Looking forward to our chat, Rene! 🦠💡⠀#Frontliners #COVIDContactTracer #ContactTracing
